Unfortunately for Kalia, she's been somewhat sick for the last couple of weeks. At her well baby appointment the end of October the dr. found some redness in her right ear. We left with one shot and instructions to call if she became ornery or pulling at her ear and she would write a prescription for me. In the following days she got a rash, a runny nose and wouldn't let me put her down. She woke up one night with a slight fever (100.8) and we called the doctor. She started antibiotics. The funny thing is that we aren't really sure that she just had an ear infection. She started coughing and wheezing at night. The best thing is that she's still been so happy. Even when she's sick she's smily.
She has half a tooth and her second bottom incisor is right below the surface (maybe a partial cause for the symptoms). She's been practicing different expressions. She now scowls and furrows her eyebrows. Her smiles and grins are as big as ever. People love to talk to Kalia. Everywhere we go she makes friends.
She's been working on mobility. She hasn't figured out how to crawl in the conventional hands and knees position. She has gotten much better at scooting and will now pull her body forward with her arms and push with her toes. She still loves to roll to get places. She spends a good portion of the day exploring the floor space in our apartment. She's gotten a lot more purposeful in her movements and will work towards a goal. She will use my hands to pull herself into both a sitting and standing position. When holding my hands she's pretty steady on her feet and will walk all over. She's not quite balanced enough to stand alone, but will lean against anything. She still loves playing in her excersaucer and just last night was bouncing in it like crazy. She also bounces when she sits. She's gained a lot of control when sitting and can now lean forward to grab toys without toppling. She'll move to her tummy pretty smoothly.
Kalia loves to talk and yell. Her favorite sounds are "oooo," "mmm," and "Oh." She whines when I walk away or put her down when she doesn't want me to. She shakes her head 'no' and will push things away. This has made meal time a little more interesting. At least I have a better idea of what she wants. Before she just seemed to do what I tried. I was never sure if she was eating enough or too much. Now she'll yell at me if she's not done and I'm taking the food away (or empty bowl). She babbles most of the consonants and will take turns. She tries to imitate us. She waves bye bye. She's a joy to us and I find myself smiling all day! Tristan relishes his time home.
